500 kWp Solar C&I Hybrid Plant — Cement Factory, Edo
Jude Elswitch Limited executed the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) of a 500 kWp grid-tied solar PV and 1 MWh lithium battery energy storage hybrid system for a cement batching plant in Edo State. The system was engineered to eliminate daytime diesel dependency and provide an additional protective energy buffer during grid outages.
The PV array — mounted on custom-engineered industrial racking structures — integrates 1,250 units of 400 Wp monocrystalline panels with eight 60 kW string inverters, a centralised DC combiner and protection cabinet, and a Schneider Electric XW+ hybrid inverter bank for seamless grid/battery/solar switching. A 50 kW export-limitation relay prevents grid feed-in under current regulatory rules.
Since commissioning, the plant has been generating an average of 1,850 kWh daily, reducing diesel consumption by approximately 850 litres per day and cutting the client's monthly electricity cost by ₦12.5 million — delivering a projected full ROI within 4.2 years.
