Huawei Core Network Modernisation — ISP Backbone, Lagos
Working alongside Huawei Technologies Nigeria as the lead implementation partner, Jude Elswitch Limited managed the complete teardown and modernisation of an Internet Service Provider's legacy DWDM core network across three Points of Presence (PoPs) in Lagos — VI, Ikeja GRA, and Lekki Phase 1.
The project replaced end-of-life Cisco CRS-series equipment with a Huawei NE40E core router platform, integrated a new 100G ROADM optical layer, and deployed Huawei SmartAX OLT equipment to extend fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) capacity to over 8,000 additional households and 500 corporate subscribers.
Our team of certified Huawei engineers handled network planning, optical power budgeting, equipment racking and integration, BGP and OSPF re-configuration, and a live network cutover with zero downtime. Post-implementation network availability improved from 98.2% to 99.94% SLA.
