Smart Street Lighting — Municipal Programme, Abuja
Jude Elswitch Limited was engaged by the Abuja environmental protection board's infrastructure arm to execute the supply and installation of 1,800 solar-powered smart LED street lights across six priority road corridors in the Federal Capital Territory, including the Airport Road, Murtala Mohammed Expressway, and three district ring roads.
Each luminaire — fitted with a 150W LED fixture, 200 Wp monocrystalline solar panel, 24V lithium battery pack, and a built-in NB-IoT smart control module — is remotely dimmable and fault-monitored through a central management system (CMS). Our team managed complete logistics, concrete foundation construction, pole erection, cable installation, CMS commissioning, and a 2-year operations and maintenance agreement.
The project eliminated over 8.2 km of poorly lit corridor (a primary road safety and security concern), reduced street lighting electricity costs for AEPB by an estimated ₦580 million annually (full diesel elimination on affected corridors), and won a commendation from the FCT Minister of Administration.
